5 pre-tanning tips every woman should know!
Every year, we all look forward to summer so that we can bask under the sun and get a tan. Given the global situation, many people missed out on this chance. If you are one of them, don't worry, a self-tanning session at home will give you the same glow in minutes. Here are a few tips on how to prep your skin for a self-tan.
Groom first
If you want to wax, shave or colour your hair, do it at least 24 hours before tanning. Shaving and waxing can irritate your skin, so give your skin enough time to calm down and heal from any cuts and bruises. Also, doing these treatments after defeats the purpose of self-tanning because they will remove the colour.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating gets rid of any dead skin cells. Use a body scrub or exfoliating gloves and concentrate on rough spots such as the ankles, elbows, knees, and heels. Ensure that the product you use does not contain any oil and does not leave any residue. Doing this helps the tanning product apply smoothly without leaving any dark patches.
Shower and dry off
Clean off the exfoliating product and pat your skin dry using a towel. Make sure you're completely dry as any water left on the skin might dilute the tan, causing those dreaded patches and streaks.
Moisturise problem areas
As mentioned earlier, your skin should be completely dry, but ensure you moisturise dry areas such as your knees, ankles, and elbows. This helps prevent the colour from settling into lines and from turning orange.
Set up your tanning station
Confirm that you have everything you need before starting. If you will be tanning on your own, get a mirror so that you don’t miss any spots. Once you have that sorted out, you can start applying the tan. Make sure you take your time and apply the product evenly..
